"Okay, this is a quote that my great-grandma used to say, and it's... Okay, so she'd say, "The more languages you know, the wealthier you are,"" or, like, "the more money you can make," and... Well, "the wealthier you are," that's the correct translation. And I think that's legit, 'cause like, to be honest... When I put that on my resume, I get -- I'm like, I'm always put at the top. Like, I know that, you know, I mean? I've never had trouble getting jobs because these people see, like, four languages, even if I'm like, applying for like, a barista job, you know, which... (That's pretty much what I do, because I'm not into like office jobs.) They call me back right away. And like, I feel like, that has given me so many... It has opened a lot of doors for me, you know?
Also, I kind of love it because as a kid, I felt so dumb, you know, because like, the system is not made for people that have dyslexia. And people would find out I speak four languages, and then, automatically, they'd treat me like so much nicer. They'd be like, "Oh, you're so intelligent! Oh, wow, you speak four languages?" Which is kind of annoying, but I also you know, I'm kind of like, "Oooh yeah, that's me. Four languages. What's up?" And then I kind of like when people are like, "Yeah, this is my friend, Wanda. She speaks four languages," and I'm like, "Oh, stop!" [laughter] But inside, I'm like, "Yes!" Yeah, I think it just opens doors. It makes me able to communicate with more people, you know?
Also travelling: comes in really handy, except, it's really weird because like, when you have four languages, and you go somewhere where they don't speak any of your four languages... For the first time, you feel like an alien, you know, and I haven't experienced that a lot because like, everywhere I go, I pretty much understand what people say. But yeah, that's really interesting too. But yeah, I think that's how it's affected me."
